Tech. VS Nature Part 2

This time the title isn`t over the top!
Why not? Last time I was only talking about music ( electronical vs acoustic )
But this time it`s about everything. Well, almost.

What is happening with our planet? How is it going to look like in 50 years?
Why do we so often misuse technology? And it seems nothing is learned from previous mistakes… ! Just remember the atomic bombs than were thrown at Japan. I am not quite convinced Einstain had that in mind when developing his Relativity theory !

Does techonology really makes our lives easier? Obviously for you to read this blog, God knows how many miles away from where I am, Internet is of rather crucial importance J
But what about all the dowsides of internet? Pornography, spying, etc…

It is plain enough that every sort of technology can be used or misused, now, what do we do with the human factor in the whole mixture of this big cake?;)

Are we even being educated about how internet is to be used or are we just presented with it when young and then someone says: »This is Google. You just type in whatever and you will find it.« In my case at least, that`s how it was and it is a dangerous game to play, isn`t it?

Why? Some people might say, but speaking of the atomic bomb earlier… one can find out all the instructions needed to make one on the web. For me this is serious.!

So what do you think we should do about it? For clearly something must be done about it.

This post is a call for you! to think about it and hopefully we can share some ideas together.

Tech VS. Nature

Well, maybe the title is a bit over top but today I will write about so called Acoustic and Electronic music....

To make this clear, I`ve never played an electronical instrument on stage or so but I`ve played with many musicians who played electronic instruments, to be honest I never liked electronic music too much ( until recently ). It was partly because it sounded to rough and metally to me and partly because I used to be a so called Musical Purist ( don`t recommend you to be that ) and hated everything that is electronic.

Now, keyboards ( synthesizers ) have changed the way most of the music sounds. Not just in pop and rock music but also in jazz and experimental music, even world music.

I am not here to judge if this was good or bad but it did have a profound effect on music.
If the landmark of jazz in the 60s was Kind of Blue; a slow, acoustic, jazzy recording
only a few years later Bitches Brew came along and electrified everyone:) the fans and the critics.

Lets remind ourselves how it sounds like

Obviously this was just the beggining of electronic music in jazz.

These days I can just open a computer program and make a track, sing autotune on top of it a sell millions of records. This Is Worrying!!
Electronic music is fun and entertaining but we shouldn`t mix it with artistry...

Do you think electronics made music better?

P.S
Just to end this post I would like to share with you my version of Ain`t no Sunshine!

Classical music is "COOL"

I have a thesis! Classical music is cool and interesting, inventive and modern.

Its only problem is that it doesn`t treat itself in that way. It thinks it has to be proper and traditional and dignified and the rest of bullshit and pretendance. It`s like Beyonce would be dressed the same way as an opera singer and spoke and acted like a queen. It is absurd. No one would listen to her music!

Lets face it. Mozart in his time was a popular musician, he didn`t have 3% of the audience (like classical music today )but 90%, his music was often played as a background for some fat lords and kings... when they had little receptions and birthdays...
he was inventive, daring, provocative; in his music and his lifestyle.

When I think of all that I ask myself, what kind of a person should a modern classical musician be and what relationship should he have with the music he creates.

This feels like a begining of a wholly New Blog which will explore what classical music is today and what it could be.

To begin I would like to share with you a person who might have just the right attitude to classical music :
It`s Benjamin Zander and if you care about the music around you, you should watch this video:

How do you think classical music should be like?

Cold, foggy day

Here I am, back again
Hope you`re well, lets begin.

After an overdosing seriousness in yesterdays post I would like to write something more chilled out today.
That won`t be to difficult because it`s bloody chilly outside ( read: extremely cold :) so all I can do is stay inside, play the marimba, make some apple juice and Write this blog! Juppi!

I am in bliss of excitement at the moment because I just came over a great idea of making an arrangement of Bach`s Arioso for the marimba.

This was Arioso played on the cello and this is me playing Bach on the marimba:

Now, all you have to do is close your eyes and imagine the Arioso being played on the marimba:)
And it will happen!   Its like that will all things in life; believe and work and they will come true! I am joking
and being serious at the same time and since its a very cold day it is probably better to just sit and visualize and work in the summer:)

And finally, if you have absolutely nothing to do and are in a mood for some strange music I humbly invite you to surf through my website and check out some of the music: Aristel

Be good, dont eat too much chocolate and I`ll be back soon! :)

That`s who we are...

I hope this is not gonna end up being a philosophical treaty, if it does I do apologize.
This burst of ideas and inspiration was triggered by looking at the comments on one of those sites about politics and economic crisis etc. It was amazing to see all these extreme reactions from people ( most of whom have absolutely no idea about the topic; I don`t either-to be sure), it looked like they were not talking about the same thing. So, even if most of us agree that color blue is color blue, when it comes to more complex topics we seem to disagree on every possible point. Why is that? Why couldn't it be simpler? Isn`t there one best way to lead a country ( who needs all these political parties )? If there is one way, what it is?

The point I am trying to make is, We are all different. Born in different places, raised in different ways of different religions and ideologies. And this seems to make us see certain things and perceive certain ideas but also blinds us to the rest of them. Well, this is all normal you might say and I would agree with you. The problems is when we think everyone else should think like us, see things the same way we do. Obviously, this is not possible.

But we are not alone in this. The funny thing is we are all the same in differentiation ( horibble sentence )!
What I was trying to say is, the fact we are each different should make us more tolerant towards each other,
Symphatize with all kinds of strange responses we get from people and just once ask ourselves;

"What made them like that?"

What made us who we are?

My very first Blog!

So, this is my FIRST blog! Like most of my fellow bloggers/beginners I`ve typed "blogging for beginners" into Google and tried to get an idea what blogging is about and how it`s done. Well, I still don`t know it and that`s why I am here to find out. Its funny how Google gives you all the answers, isn`t it? I remeber my grandmother saying that "All people know everything" and if you think about it all the information on the web has been put there by normal people like you and me.
That`s why I am here. I know nothing of rocket-science, stock markets or artificial intelligence BUT, I do have some music to share with you. For me music is as important as anything else, its food for our souls and for our ears:) and most importantly it`s all around us. Every sound you percieve can be noise or music. I really hope it is music for you because that way life is much more colorful and interesting.
The instrument I play is the MARIMBA and if you are not quite sure what it is I invite you to read
an article I wrote about its history and development Marimba Article .
The music I play sometimes sounds like this....

I hope to be able to post here regularly so we can always be in touch, share our ideas and passions, and
discover new ones. After all, that`s what blogging is about, right?
